GP Services
At Blackpool Medical Centre, we provide a wide range of GP services to support your ongoing health needs. Our team offers routine and acute appointments for both general check-ups and urgent concerns. We also facilitate blood tests, prescription management, and cryotherapy treatments along with many other services.
As part of our commitment to long-term care, we deliver structured Chronic Disease Management (CDM) for conditions such as diabetes, asthma, and cardiovascular issues. Whether you need ongoing support or a one-time consultation, our experienced team is here to help.
Routine/Acute appointments
GP consultations are essential for diagnosing health concerns, suggesting medications, managing ongoing prescriptions, or requesting blood tests.
Providing brief details when booking can help our reception team schedule the most suitable appointment for your needs.
Bloods
Blood tests at our clinic are carried out by our experienced nursing team as part of a range of investigations, including ECGs, 24-hour blood pressure monitoring, and spirometry. All blood tests must be ordered by a GP or consultant, so please book an appointment with your GP to discuss your needs.
Prescriptions
Repeat prescriptions can be requested for ongoing medications previously discussed with your GP. Please allow at least 48 hours for processing. For any new or changed medications, a consultation may be required to ensure safe and appropriate treatment.
CDM (CHRONIC DISEASE MANAGEMENT)
A chronic disease is a long-term health condition that requires continuous care and management.
The Structured Chronic Disease Management Programme is available to patients with a medical card, GP Visit card, or Health Amendment Act card who have been diagnosed with certain chronic conditions such as Cardiovascular disease, COPD, Asthma, or Type 2 Diabetes.
The Annual Chronic Disease Prevention Programme is for patients with a medical card, GP Visit card, or Health Amendment Act card who have been diagnosed with high blood pressure, are at increased risk of heart disease or diabetes, or are aged 18+ and have had gestational diabetes or pre-eclampsia since January 1, 2023.
This prevention programme supports you and your GP in working together to lower your risk of developing cardiovascular disease or diabetes.

Patients are seen once a year under this programme. The aims of this programme are to prevent these conditions progressing and developing the related complications.

Cryotherapy
Cryotherapy is a quick, effective treatment used to remove certain common skin lesions such as warts, skin tags, and verrucae. It involves applying liquid nitrogen to freeze and destroy the unwanted tissue. Treatment is carried out by trained clinicians and may require more than one session depending on the lesion.
