Our Doctors

Dr. Mortimer O’Connor

Dr. Mortimer O’Connor, a native of Cork, studied Medicine at University College Cork. He graduated in 2006 and has since pursued a career in General Medicine. After over 15 years of Hospital Medicine, across Cork & Kerry, he completed his specialist training in General Practice, under the guidance of the South West GP training scheme. He became a Member of the ICGP in 2024. He joined the Blackpool Medical Centre in 2024.

Along with General Practice, he has a special interest in Rheumatology and Sports & Exercise Medicine. He has worked as a Team Doctor for almost 10 years with Republic of Ireland football teams, along with other sports such as GAA and horse racing. He was awarded a Fellowship of the Faculty of Sports & Exercise Medicine by the Royal College of Physicians and the Royal College of Surgeons in 2024. He is recognised by the Irish Medical Council as a Specialist in Sports & Exercise Medicine.

Dr. Danielle O' Brien

Dr. Danielle O’Brien is a Cork GP who graduated from Medicine at University College Cork in 2018 and completed her specialist GP training with the Cork GP Training Scheme in 2025. She joined Blackpool Medical Centre in 2024 and is committed to providing patient-centred, supportive care for individuals and families in the community.

She holds a Diploma in Paediatrics and additional certifications in women’s health, menopause care, and contraception. Dr. O’Brien also provides long-acting contraception, including contraceptive implants and coils.

Bernie Downing

Bernie Downing is our experienced practice nurse. She offers expert help on many aspects of your health care from ladies health to childhood immunisations, as well as doing dressings, suture removal etc.
